{Economy of Love}

So I just got this book, Economy of Love, today. So far, it's pretty amazing! It's written by a group of Christian authors who have a passion to change the world. World changers reaching out with the hands of Jesus...sounds good to me. So I leave you with this quote from the book (this part by Shane Clairborne)

"The strange this is, is that God does not want to change the world without us"

When I first read this, it kind of set me back a bit. Oh the thoughts that were going through my mind. "God doesn't need me to change the world", "It's not like He's just sitting around waiting on me to change the world and have an impact" But then again, the thought hit me...God does not NEED me at all. He does not need my help changing the world. He does not need me to make an impact on the world. But here's the kicker...He wants me! He wants to use me! He wants to use me to impact the world! In John 14:12-17 Jesus tells His disciples: "Now I am going to the Father, but you will do the same things I've been doing, and you'll do even greater things because I'm leaving you the Spirit" 

By no means does God require you or me to change the world. But He has called us to change the world! Jesus straight up tells us that we can do what He did! We, through Him, can heal the sick, heal the blind, cast out demons, perform miracles. We, through the power of the Holy Spirit, can change the world!
