My life lately...

...God is so good! Imana niziza! (I can promise that the spelling is totally wrong on that, but it's supposed to be God is good in Kinyrwanda!)
My updates have not been to regular, I apologize. As for life here in Rwanda, it is so good! I can see God moving in some amazing ways!
We are now half way through our lecture phase, only 6 weeks left! I talked a little bit about some personal things that God has taught me in the past weeks, so if you want to know, go check it out!

But as far as updates, here we go.
Today was our first outreach! We went to a church Kabuga, Rwanda. It's sort of a district, just a bit out of the city. We arrived at 8:30 this morning and they were in full swing already, even though there were only maybe 5 people (other than the worship team) there. Our team of 16 sat down and the service began. There were hours of music (literally, it was at least 2 hours). Then one of my teammates shared his testimony, we did a short skit and then...I preached. It was so good! I feel so honored that I was able to do that. I spoke on Hebrews 11 - walking out in faith. Surprisingly, I feel totally comfortable, not nervous at all. As I was speaking, it was like God was just reminding me of His goodness. He reminded me of the fear that I had when I first came to Africa. He reminded me of the promises He had given me, that have now been fulfilled. All that to say, I think it well. I loved it!

This week (week 7), we are going to be learning about Worship. I am so excited to see what He has planned for this week. Time is flying by and I cannot believe that it has been over a month already. I feel at home, I feel peace and so happy here. The Lord has given me insane joy, just to know that I am where He planned me to be.

In the coming weeks, and next few months, we will prepare for our outreach. In April, we will be leaving Rwanda (on the exact day that my tourist VISA for Rwanda expires) for our outreach in Uganda! The details are still a bit blurry, but the plan is to spend some time in Arua, Uganda (northern Uganda) and then hopefully spend some time in South Sudan.

I value your prayers and support so much! Thank you for your prayers for me and my team! Please, keep it up! Here are a few things to pray for:
1. Two of our leaders - Mike and Amanda (a couple from Canada) still have no VISA's. Theirs have expired, and through many months of paper work and prayers, their grace period has been extended. They have until the end of this week (the week of Feb. 18) to get VISA's.
2. Planning for outreach: my wonderful leaders are working to iron out details (lodging, transport, VISA's, etc). Pray for discernment, clear direction and wisdom.
3. Health: Many team members have been sick, injured or just down. Pray for strength, rest and endurance.
4. Focus: pray that I would have focus on Jesus and what He's trying to tell me and not be distracted!

Thanks so much for all of your support!!!
Joanna
